Trip to Arvind Foundation

On the bright morning of august 30 the students of class 11 were taken to Arvind foundation- an NGO for children with special needs- as part of their value educational field trip. Arvind foundation is a non-government organization started in the year 2004 with the intention to help and support children with special needs (cerebral palsy, autism, ADHD, ADD…) now, they have grown into a family of 130 functioning from 4 parts of the city.

We started at 10 am from school and it was roughly an hour's travel. As soon as we reached there , we were addressed by the founder as well as the vice principal of the foundation. It was indeed a moment of pride for all of us when the founder announced that AMM was the first school ever to bring school students to visit and take care of their children.

We were about 104 in strength. The students were divided into three groups. One group to entertain the children, one to help them in their gardening work and the last group, for a change, learnt how to make areca plates.

The children at the foundation were very friendly, the entertainment session turned out to be really fun! In fact, it was our dear friends who entertained us and not the other way around. A lot of girls sang and a few boys danced too. The best part is, a lot of children of the foundation danced with us.

The gardening group was of great help to the foundation. They helped them clear a lot of space for the children to do gardening.

The last group learnt how to make areca plates from a child of the foundation. It was really nice to watch him explain as he showed us how to make the plates. The clock struck 1! Time went so fast that we even forgot the reason why we came! The students of AMM had prepared vegetable biryani to share with our new friends for lunch. We were very happy that they enjoyed our lunch and even happier to lunch with them.

All good things have to come to an end, likewise, we had to leave back to school. Although we really wanted to stay back there and get to know the children better, we knew we had to leave. This trip taught us how blessed we are and gave us a wonderful opportunity to get to know these kids. On behalf of 11th grade I would like to thank the principal for providing us this valuable experience and our class teachers and all the parent volunteers for accompanying us.
