Teachers’day Celebration

Teachers' day was celebrated on September 2, 2016. Class XII students organised the event. They conducted games for teachers and dedicated mime, dance and song for the teachers. Sharon Chackochen of class XII D wrote a song for teachers and presented it with her friends. Manohar of class XII entertained the audience with a melodious Hindi number. The programme came to an end with a group song by the students of class XII who dedicated it for the teachers.

International literacy day and reading day

The International literacy day and reading day was observed on September 8, 2016. Children began their day by reading a book for an hour. Children from KG to class XII arranged themselves in the school ground in the form of the words "International Literacy Day 8.9.2016" and read their books.

AMM Film Club Session 5

The fifth session of AMM Film Club was held on September 10, 2016. Film club members (43 students from classes VII and VIII) attended the session which was organized by Ms. Preethi and Ms. Nishanthy. The session was facilitated by class XI students. An activity on empathy was conducted followed by screening of the film "Vicky."

Parenting Session

A parenting session was conducted on 10th September 2016 for the parents of class X students. The session was on the topic "You and your child coping with adolescence." Mr. Karthik Lakshman, Counselling Psychologist was the resource person. Around 60 parents attended the session which focused on helping adolescents handle pressure and distraction and to take up academics seriously.

Interaction Session for Maths Teachers

An interaction session was held on September 15, 2016 for the Maths teachers from all the four schools under AMM Foundation - T.I, AMM, VCHSS and SRM at the AMM School. The session was graced by the presence of Prof. C. Ramanujan. The session was aimed to discuss the difficulties faced by Maths teachers while teaching. Teachers contributed their inputs and based on these further workshops will be conducted.

International Coastal Cleanup day

International Coastal Cleanup Day was jointly organized by Indian Coast Guard, Region (East), Tree Foundation, Roots & Shoots India and Syndicate Bank, Regional Office, Chennai on September 17, 2016. 26 students from class IX cleaned Eliot’s beach and collected around 2000 kg of waste. Students learnt the impact of waste on aquatic animals.

Interact club – Collection of Re. 1 and Moong dal

Interact club/ Community club took initiative in collecting a fistful of moong dal, potato and Re. 1 from students on 28th September 2016. The total contribution was upto 28kgs of moong dal, 40 kgs of potatoes, 2kgs of other dal and Rs 2600 with which 50kg of rice was bought and the provisions were donated to Montfort Sirahugal in Adyar for the benefit of the inmates.

KG Sports Day

KG celebrated its Sports Day on the 24th September 2016. Mrs. Lakshmi Natarajan – MD. Kalgi group was the Chief Guest. Mrs. Meyammai Venkatachalam, Correspondent, Shri PR Rao, Academic advisor and Advisor designate Mrs. Kamakshi graced the occasion. After the ceremonial parade by the students of KG, flat races and several games were held for the tiny tots. There were three parent games and races in which parents participated with lot of enthusiasm were the highlights of the day. The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to all the winners and she urged the parents to be more sensitive to the needs of the children and create a healthy environment to develop them as good human beings in her speech.

Interact Club Inauguration

The Interact club of AMM School for the academic year 2016-2017 was inaugurated on September 16, 2016. Interact club of the school actively takes up initiatives for community service. Mr. Dayanidhi, the President of Rotary Club, Nungambakkam, Chennai was the Chief Guest. He inaugurated the event and gave badges to the members. The previous President of Interact club, Ms. Kaviya Krishnan of XII D formally handed over her charge to the new President, Palaniappan of XI C and he presented this year's proposal. The office bearers for 2016-2017 were also introduced.

Interaction Session on TIST

An interaction session to introduce The International Small group Tree planting programme (TIST) was held on 28th September 2016. The session was led by Mr. Joseph who stressed on the importance of planting trees. He explained the procedure followed by TIST which enables each of us to plant trees, with the help of farmers, to balance carbon emission.

Family Day

Family day was celebrated on 27th and 28th of September 2016. Parents gathered together and children did many activities like floral arrangements, garland making, making tea coasters with plantain fibres. Traditional games like pallanguzhi, five stones and hopscotch were held. Family week culminated with grandparents’ day which was held on September 30, 2016.

Grandparent's Day

Grandparents’ day was celebrated on 30th September 2016. Parents and grandparents joined in the programme. Children sang songs in praise of grandparents. Renowned actor Mr. Delhi Ganesh was the chief guest of the programme. He addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts with the families. Various games and competitions were conducted for parents and grandparents. The families enjoyed the evening. KG family week culminated with the grandparents’ day.

AMM School Walkathon 2

The 2nd AMM school Family Walkathon was held on October 1st, 2016 in commemoration of the ‘World Elders’ Day.’ This year’s motto “Be active, Be healthy, Zero carbon and Donate organs” aims at creating awareness on environmental issues and bringing together the members of the community for promoting a cause. The Chief Guest Shri Srinivas, prominent playback singer flagged off the event from the school premises at 6.15 am in the presence of the school management, parents, teachers and students. About 1200 participants geared up for walkathon. They were provided with t-shirts and light refreshments. This was followed by a yoga session by Dr. Mahendran and health screening by the Omayal Aachi College of Nursing. A dental camp was conducted by the Rotary Club and an eye donation awareness camp was organized by Sankar Netralaya.
