Navarathri Celebration

Navarathri was celebrated in the school by keeping golu. Children visited the golu and Pooja was also conducted on 8th October 2016.

Art Mela 2016

Art mela 2016 was held on 22nd October 2016 in the school premises. Children of middle school exhibited their artistic talents through various competitions like floral arrangements, vegetable carving, clay modelling etc. Children’s works of art were exhibited in school.

Teacher Empowerment Programme – Module 4

The fourth module of Teacher Empowerment Programme was held on 14th and 15th of November at AMM School. The topics discussed were questioning skills and giving and receiving feedback. Mrs. Kaushal, Mr. Subramaniam, Mrs. Seethalakshmi and Mrs. Sharmila attended the session.

Go Green Fortnight

Go green fortnight was observed from October 17th to 28th 2016. As part of this, several activities were conducted.

  • Go green badges were made and worn by children.
  • Unused water was collected in containers and was used for watering plants.
  • An electricity audit was conducted to examine how much electricity is saved by switching off fans and lights during break time.
  • Children were taught to make cloth bags using old t-shirts.
  • Slogan writing contest was held for all classes and the best slogans were exhibited.
  • Wastes were collected and used for making compost pit.
  • Tasty Tuesday was observed by preparing healthy and nutritious food in the school canteen.
  • Children also brought healthy food on one of the days.
  • Ms. Shrilekha (Kids for Tiger) did an AV show on the importance of saving wildlife.
  • Dr. Samuel Rajkumar, environmental engineer spoke on the importance of celebrating a green Diwali.
  • Ms. Shoba Menon spoke on the importance of Indian breed plants and ways of saving it.

Interact club Collection of Re. 1 and toys

Interact club/ community club took initiative in collecting Re. 1 and toys from students on 24th and 25th October 2016. The total contribution was 514 toys and an amount of Rs. 1574 which was used to purchase 5 kg of sweets. The collection was donated to Montfort Siragugal in Besant Nagar and Sri Arunodayam, in Kolathur.

Wall Paintings

Children painted the school walls with pictures stressing the importance of values. The paintings portray good and evil that exist in society. The paintings came to life through the combined efforts of class X students: Ritvikkh Roy, R. Sai Muthuraman, S. Siddart Kumar, I. Anish, A. Shyam Ganesh, T. Rethick and Karthik Vinod.

Diwali Celebration

Diwali was celebrated in the school premises on 28th October 2016. Dr. Samuel Rajkumar, environmental engineer in Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board was the Chief Guest. He addressed the students on protecting the environment and also on celebrating Diwali in a safe way. Children took an oath to celebrate Diwali safely. A colourful Diwali dance was performed by middle school children.

Field Trip to Mahabalipuram

Students of classes V A and B were taken on a field trip to the Sea Shell museum in Mahabalipuram on 27th October 2016. Students visited the museum and saw 40,000 different types of shells. They also learnt how pearls are formed.

Field Trip to Bharathiyar Illam

Students of classes VI A and B were taken on a field trip to Bharathiyar Illam at Triplicane on 27th October 2016. Students visited the house and saw various photographs and things used by Bharathiyar. They collected information about the great poet.
