UKG Field Trip

Students of UKG A, B and C were taken on a field trip to Sahaya Illam, an orphanage and old age home at St. Thomas Mount on 3rd November 2016. Children learnt the values of sharing and caring and they donated a few items like soap, oil, brush etc.

Career Guidance Programme for Class XI

Career guidance programme was conducted for class XI students on 4th and 7th November 2016. Mr. Karthik Lakshmanan was the resource person for the session organized by the school counselor. Psychometric test was conducted for new students to help them understand their aptitude, interest and personality. There was a career awareness session for educating the students about the possible career options. This was conducted separately for Bio/CSc and Commerce students.

Biodiversity Trail Workshop for class VII

Students of classes VII A and B were taken for a biodiversity trail workshop and elephant care facility on 8th November 2016. The workshop was organized by tree foundation. Children felt closely connected to nature and learnt about the elephants, how they are cured and tamed. They enjoyed with lot of activities like nature trail, tree climbing and stencil drawing.

LKG Field Trip

LKG students were taken on a field trip to the marine aquarium at Foreshore estate on 11th November 2016. Children observed the marine life and various types of marine animals.

WOW Collection Day

Wow collection day was observed on 10th and 11th of November 2016. 51 kilograms of dry paper waste was collected from the school office and 312 kilograms from the library.

AMM Carnival 2016

The AMM Carnival 2016 was held on 12th November 2016. A number of stalls were put up for games, accessories and food. Films were also screened. There was the lucky draw and gift stall where children won many prizes. Class XII students presented a dance performance to entertain the crowd. All proceeds of the day were given to charity.

Term II - Project Culmination

The Term 2 Project Culmination for KG and classes 1- 4 was held on 12th November. LKG and UKG students did projects on topics such as underwater animals, summer season, community helpers and jobs people do.

For classes I to IV, main focus of the project was Social studies. The concept taken up was Comparing and contrasting. Classes I and II did a comparison of Tamil Nadu with states like Gujarat, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh while classes III and IV compared India with its neighbouring states like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bhutan.

Project culmination for classes V to IX was held on 19th November 2016. They collaborated all their subjects and did projects on topics such as ‘Food fest’, ‘Jawaharlal Nehru’, ‘Ploughing’, ‘Gandhiji’ and ‘Food as medicine’. Children collected information about all the topics, consolidated them and presented it before the parents.

Children’s Day Celebration

Children's day was celebrated on 14th November 2016. A film was screened for creating environmental awareness among children. Valarppu - a thought provoking short film by Muthu Krishnan, an old student of AMM student was also screened. Teachers conducted the assembly and a performed on stage.

Rajyapuraskar Test Camp

Rajyapuraskar test camp at was conducted at the State Headquarters of Scouts and Guides at Wenlock Park, Chennai on 10th and 12th November 2016. Vinay Varshigan, Jai Prasath and Kaushsal of VIII B and Brinda, Samantha and Geethanjali of IX A got qualified for the Rajyapuraskar award. They will receive it next year from the Honorable Governor of Tamil Nadu. Mr. C. Sathyanarayana got appointed as District Organising Commissioner (DOC), Scouts for Central Chennai.

AMM Scouts and Guides Hike

AMM Scouts, guides, cubs and bulbuls went for a hike to St. Thomas Mount on 25th November 2016. 27 cubs, 24 bulbuls, 39 scouts, and 13 guides participated in the activity. They were accompanied by Mrs. Seethalakshmi, Mrs. Girija, Mr. Nedunchezhiyan and Mr. Sathyanarayana. The objective was to make the students understand woodcraft signs, directions and to walk at least 1.5 kilometres as a hike.

Interact Club/ Community Club Collection of Re. 1 and books

Interact club/ community club took initiative in collecting Re. 1 and books from students on 28th November 2016. The total contribution was 220 books contributed by the school and 306 books by the children. The total collection of Rs. 853 was used to purchase stationery items for children. The collection was donated to Kaakkum Karangal in Thiruvanmiyur, Palavakkam and West Mambalam.

AMM Film Club – Session 6

AMM Film club – session 6 was held on 28th November 2016. The session was organized by Ms. Preethi and Ms. Nishanthy. Two students of class XI facilitated the session which was attended by 40 students who are members of the film club. The movie ‘Ah Boy!’ was screened. Feedback forms were also given to the students.
