Highlights for the month of June 2017

The Investiture Ceremony

The Investiture Ceremony, the first formal function for the students, for the current academic year, 2017/18 was conducted on June 10th. Dr Manickam, Professor of Medicine presided over the function. The student council members were awarded their badges. An orientation programme was conducted where they were briefed on the duties and responsibilities of a leader. The leaders were made aware of the importance of their roles and they pledged to carry out their duties and uphold the motto of their Alma Mater.

Blood Donation Camp

A Blood Donation Camp was conducted at our school premises on June 10th. The chief guest for the event was Dr Mythili from VHS. She spoke about the importance of donating blood, a very noble and life saving act which should be made a part of a student life so that it would be beneficial for the society at large. 67 units of blood were collected.

International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June. A one hour yoga session for the staff and students was conducted under the guidance of Mr Satish , the Yoga Instructor. He talked about the benefits of performing yoga and also briefed the audience on the benefits of various Asanas and the effect of breathing techniques. A session for the parents was conducted on June 22nd. About 20 enthusiastic parents attended the session and gave an encouraging feedback.

World Environment Day

Our school celebrated the World Environment day on June 7th. Dr.Joe K.Kizhakuden, an environment enthusiast was the Chief Guest. Taking care of the environment and saving our mother nature were the points that he emphasized on. Five neighbouring schools also participated. It was indeed a great learning for the students as preserving our environment is one of the burning issues that children from a very young age need to gain knowledge on. Tying ‘rakhi’ to a tree was a unique and novel activity which the audience enjoyed.

Leadership programme

Leadership programme for the newly elected leaders was conducted by the resource person Mr Rajeswar Rao along with Ms Sarada and Ms Preethi. The session was quite informativeand interactive through activities. The children gained insight into the various roles to be played by them as members of the student council.
